Evita

We planned to see this Musical

at the Victorian Arts Centre, near

the Gallery. So we walked and

bought tickets. Very lucky to get

them at such short notice. This

young Argentinian woman remains

a symbol in history. Inspiring

the writing of the song: "Don't cry

for me Argentina". Her life began

in poverty and was ended by cancer

at thirty three, married into political

royalty! For in our Democracies once

elected you win and remain a part

of the story of your Nation. Like Kings

and Queens when people were only

subjects! Evita Peron traveled too

and met Leaders in Europe and the Pope.

This added to her allure, her image

and gratitude for having come out

of poverty. What a journey, like winning

the lotto in life where people struggle,

fight to live with little hope of overcoming

their penury! Eva Duarte de Peron remains

a symbol for Argentina. Our own Tina Arena

played the part beautifully. I often don't go

to such shows, but was moved by my curiosity.

This musical was great and so was my

company, for fortune in life often comes

unexpectedly! Just like with Tina Arena

who had to leave Melbourne after her

youthful performing days were over.

She found it a struggle here to continue

her career and be accepted as a true blue

Aussie! To then return for a second coming

to represent our new understanding

and redefining the new blue Aussie

of our Diversity! Such a great show!

Such a memory!
